Our speakers and inquiry lines are very carefully picked in collaboration with our community. They always align with our vision of embedding what really matters in education. Inquiry, play and the Learning Power Approach (LPA) are golden threads through our learning process, as well as focusing on the head, heart and mind of learning.
By being part of our learning and answering our unique questions, their ideas will also be shaped, challenged and extended.
We want our Q and A’s to be rich, meaningful and create new perspectives and angles for our community, as well as provide practical ideas. We often invite two or three lead thinkers during one Q and A to bring this perspective and stimulate new thinking. This way, our content supports practitioners completely new to developing their practice as well those who are more experienced.
Students are trying to make sense of every classroom, every teacher, every learning experience. For some students, this will come more easily than others and, as a result they are more likely to achieve. Equally, some teachers may make learning clearer and more accessible than others through the intentionality of their words, their protocols and their expectations. What if, instead of leaving this to chance, we could gain conscious competence in building clarity in the classroom and equipping students with the skills and mindsets that would help them build independence and succeed? Our “live” with Mtich Weathers and Naheeda Maharasingam will explore how to consciously build executive functioning skills in the classroom to give every student the best chance of success in and out the classroom.
Join us in this powerful learning journey by signing up to our “Diving Deeper” community packageThe raw materials of a handed-down curriculum don’t necessarily give us the guidance to make learning meaningful and interesting. In fact, with the accountability systems attached to measuring outcomes based on learning objectives, we can all-too-easily fall into the trap of just “getting through content”. Yet, with a little thought and creativity we have the power to make learning engaging, enjoyable and meaningful. This not only impacts on students’ attitudes to learning (they see the point of coming to school), it also positively impacts on relationship-building and the enjoyment of teachers’ jobs (thus resulting in less teachers leaving the professional). This inquiry will dive into ways we can spark interest, engage children’s hearts and minds and plan meaningful and impactful learning experiences with the raw ingredients we are given.
Join us in this powerful learning journey by signing up to our “Diving Deeper” community packageJanuary is a reflection and rest time in our community since those in the Southern Hemisphere are on summer break. This gives the rest of us time to take stock, reflect, breath, make links with prior learning and plan forwards.
Education, in some ways and some places, is in a bit of a rut. If we’re not mindful, we get caught in repeating the same old patterns in the same old ways. And, we know, many current systems aren’t working. Students are becoming disengaged, teachers are leaving the profession, people are burned out. What if, rather than falling victim to this rut, we could find inventive ways out of it? Collaboratively and with leaders in business and world innovation? What methods do the most successful businesses use that we could apply to our problems in education? Maybe a few inventive tweaks could make all the difference … Maybe some brave steps are in order … We’ll find out in this “live” with Mark Stevenson and Danny Bauer.
Join us in this powerful learning journey by signing up to our “Diving Deeper” community packageJohn Hattie’s meta-research shows that rich learning dialogue has one of the highest effect sizes on student learning. It makes sense, then, to be intentional with how we are enabling conversations - student-to-student, student-to-teacher, teacher-to-student. What kinds of phrases and protocols really do enable rich learning dialogues? What might we be saying or not saying that could hinder, or even damage, learning? In this “live” and inquiry we will hear from three of the world leaders in developing rich dialogue in the classroom to gain conscious competence in how to enable conversations conducive to learning.

Here is a summary of our learning journey so far:
We have invited Guy in for Q and A’s on a range of topics, including his take on developing creativity, exploring deeper thinking and deeper learning and diving deeper into "Learnish". In these interviews, Guy shares his latest thinking in the LPA, provokes our, often unconscious, thinking and provides new and practical ideas to develop the LPA in our classrooms.
