“The LPA is quite ambitious. It considers that the function of school is to provide children with the equipment they need to live a fulfilling life. A fulfilling life involves finding things to do that really matter to you, having the courage to pursue those things and the will to get really good at facing the challenges along the way.
The LPA builds the knowledge and skills and particularly the habits of mind that enable this. This course will deepen your practice as a teacher so that you can help your students build those lifelong learning habits, as well as gaining knowledge, literacies and good grades.”
“I was lucky enough to discover the LPA at the very beginning of my teaching career. I remember the feeling of awe as I applied the learning power techniques my partner teacher taught me and I saw the levels of independence, the articulation and the togetherness created in my class of learners. I thought, “this is it, this is what’s meaningful to the children, this is what they need.”
Much of my learning journey since then has taken me to contexts with varying degrees of learning power. At times I felt very alone in trying to apply these techniques; I wished I had someone with whom to share ideas, I wished I had somewhere I could go to get started when I was stuck. This course would have been a gift to me then. It has been designed to provoke and deepen thinking, to provide deep food-for-thought, starting points and inspiration."
