BOOK LAUNCH RECORDING NOW AVAILABLE
Join authors Emily Poel & Guy Claxton and hosts Tim Logan from Futures of Learning Podcast & Becky Carlzon for a FREE live international book launch of Bodies of Learning where we'll engage, connect, participate, learn and celebrate together!
Learning is more than thinking...
For too long, education has prioritised the neck-up version of learning; focusing heavily on cognition whilst overlooking the profound role the body plays in attention, memory, emotion, curiosity, creativity and meaning-making. Yet research increasingly points towards a deeper truth: learning is a full-body activity.

...and what we're going to do about it.
In this rich Learning Experience, Professor Guy Claxton and Emily Poel invite educators to explore embodied learning through both theory and practice. Together, we will unpick the science behind embodied learning, explore practical ways to bring these ideas into classrooms and learning communities, and engage in meaningful inquiry with students about how learning actually happens.
Through live sessions, book study, reflection and classroom-based research, this experience is designed to deepen your understanding of how movement, environment, sensation, emotion, relationships and physical experience shape learning in powerful ways.
This is not simply about adding movement breaks or “active lessons”. It is about fundamentally rethinking what learning is.
Why embodied learning matters
As educators deepen their understanding of embodied learning, they begin to notice shifts not only in student engagement and well-being, but in the depth, meaning and humanity of learning itself.
Understand the latest research into embodied learning and what it means for classrooms, leadership and curriculum design.
Explore practical strategies to help students learn through movement, environment, reflection, sensation and experience.
Develop more engaged, connected and emotionally safe learning environments.
Learn simple research techniques you can use with students to inquire into learning together.
Align your practice with a more human, holistic and future-focused understanding of learning.
Positively impact students’ lives both in and beyond school through richer, more meaningful learning experiences.
